Your privacy is very important to me. I follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 to keep your information safe and confidential. This notice explains how I collect, use and protect your personal information in my psychotherapy practice.

What I Collect

I only collect the information needed to provide psychotherapy safely and responsibly:

• Your name and contact details
• Brief, anonymised session notes
• Relevant medical or background information you choose to share
• Payment information where applicable
• Emails or messages between us

How and why I use it (lawful bases)

Your information is used to arrange and provide therapy, manage appointments and payments, and meet professional and legal obligations.

• Contract - to deliver the psychotherapy you request.
• Legitimate interest - to maintain clinical records after therapy ends.
• Legal obligation - for tax/accounting and professional record-keeping.

Special category (health) data is processed for the provision of healthcare by a registered professional bound by confidentiality.

Confidentiality and Sharing

Everything discussed in therapy is confidential. Information is shared only if:

• There is a serious risk of harm to you or others;
• I am required by law (e.g. a court order); or
• I discuss anonymised material in professional supervision.

No information is shared for marketing or non-clinical purposes.

Storage and Retention

Records are kept securely on password-protected devices or in locked storage. Clinical notes are retained for six years after therapy ends (in line with UKCP guidance) and then securely destroyed.

Your Rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or transfer of your data (subject to professional and legal obligations).

Website

If you contact me through my website, your information will be used solely to respond to your enquiry. Basic, non-identifying analytics may be used to improve the site. No personal data is shared with third parties for marketing.
